Admitted to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Abbassia, 8 April 1916; discharged to duty, 15 May 1916; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 38 days.

Wounded in action, 5 August 1916 (gun shot wound, right buttock, compound fracture).

Tried by District Court Martial, Rollestone, England, 27 February 1917. Found Guilty on four charges (drunkenness; assaulting an escort officer; using insubordinate language to a superior officer; [civil offence] stealing money from a woman's handbag: sentenced to 120 days' detention. Thirty-five days' detention remitted as from 22 May 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 22 May 1917.

Wounded in action (second occasion), 20 September 1917 (gun shot wound, left thigh).

Wounded in action (third occasion), 10 July 1918 (gun shot wound, left forearm: slight).

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Ceramic', 25 January 1919; discharged (medically unfit), 18 May 1919.
