Military Medal 'Near BROODSEINDE on the night of 10th October, 1917, under heavy enemy fire he organised his post and maintained it until he was wounded. Before leaving the line on this date, although wounded, he made sure that his section was properly controlled, placed in a complete state of defence and made a full and concise report to his Company Commander before allowing himself to be taken away by the stretcher bearers. This N.C.O., under conditions above stated, showed a devotion to duty which is rarely excelled, and his work and conduct is deserving of some very high honour.'
