Military Cross 'During the attack on the enemy on the 11th August, 1918, on Rainecourt, east of Amiens, he displayed great courage and initiative in handling his platoon. Whilst advancing he accounted for about forty prisoners. On reaching the objective he proceeded to clean up a post about 40 yards in advance, which was giving trouble to his platoon during their work of consolidation. He rushed the post and single handed forced three enemy snipers to surrender.'
