Meritorious Service Medal

'For meritorious service and devotion to duty. During the operations at POLYGON WOOD, Eat of YPRES, September 1917, Corporal HUNT was in charge of the advanced Brigade ammunition dump in GLENCORSE WOOD, which came under the enemys barrage line. During the whole of the battle he behaved in the most gallant manner, extinguishing the burning dump on two occasions and leading and directing the supplies of ammunition being pushed forward through very heavy shell fire. It was owing to his intimate knowledge of the forward routes and his extreme coolness under fire, that the supply to the advanced Companies was maintained throughout the earlier and most severe portion of the fighting.'
