The advance to the objective was conducted under most difficult and harassing conditions, enemy shell fire was very heavy. This N.C.O. showed a total disregard to personal danger and it was owing to his courage and cheering on of his men that the section were able to carry out a most difficult task and to reach their objective. The successful carrying out of this work had a considerable influence on the success of the other arms engaged in the operation.'
