Military Medal 'On the morning of the 6th September, 1918, in front of TINCOURT, No. 377, Private ALLAN ROBERT BARRIE was one of a patrol sent out to keep touch with the remainder of the Platoon. While on this work, the patrol ran into a position occupied by enemy machine Guns and Snipers. Private BARRIE immediately got under cover, engaged the enemy, and threw bombs at the nearest Machine Gun post, which was only 20 yards away, inflicting casualties on the enemy. he then ran back across the open to his Platoon Officer to let him know the situation, and although wounded in the first few yards, carried on, and delivered the message. Private BARRIE next guided the remainder of the Platoon in the direction in which he considered the enemy opposition could be most promptly dealt with, and until this was done, refused to be evacuated. Throughout, he showed great gallantry and devotion to duty, and by his action, although wounded, he not only set a fine example to the remainder of the men, but enabled the advance to be successfully continued.'
