Distinguished Conduct Medal 'When an attack on Nauroy on 29 September, 1918, was held up by intense machine gun fire, he was placed in charge of seven men, with instruction s to make a reconniassance forward, and, if possible to clear the village. This task he successfully accomlished with the greatest dash and gallantry charging and capturing two machine guns in succession killing the crews.'
