Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry near Lihons on 11 August, 1918. He crossed the road alone under heavy fire and bombed an enemy post, killing two of the garrison and woundingtwo. Later, while in charge of a carrying party, he made repeated trips to the front with ammunition, which was urgently required.'
