War service: Egypt, Gallipoli Found guilty, 10 April 1915, of being absent from parade, Mena (divine service), 4 April 1915: reduced to the rank of Lance Corporal. Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (Gallipoli Campaign), 5 April 1915. Wounded in action, 26 April 1915 (gun shound, left lung and arm); transferred to Alexandria and admitted to 17th General Hospital, 30 April 1915; to United Kingdom, 23 September 1915, and admitted to 3rd Western General Hospital, Cardiff, Wales, 5 October 1915 (wounds severe) Died in Red Cross Hospital, Swansea, 24 January 1916, following an operation to remove bullet in left lung.
