Military Medal 'On the 11th/12th August, 1918, during operations on the SOMME, near PROYART, this man was Regimental Stretcher Bearer. Although being severely wounded in the head he refused to stop work and continued to go out under heavy machine gun fire at close range, to bring in the wounded. He only ceased work after collapsing from the effects of his wound.'
