Military Medal 'On September 1st, 1918 in the attack on MT. ST. QUENTIN, near PERONNE, this N.C.O. acted as a Company Runner and performed some remarkable runs. He volunteered on several occasions to carry messages to flank units, when the machine gun fire appeared so intense as to be impassable. He came out of the attack with no less than 7 machine gun bullet holes in various portions of his uniform and equipment, and was evacuated with a wound in the head. Throughout he maintained an absolute disregard of the machine gun fire encountered.'
