Military Medal 'North west of POZIERES, night of 11th/12 August, 1916. Battalion made a forward movement without artillery barrage. Corporal BARTHOLOMEW patrolled ground before movement, placed his patrol in position to be secured, returned and guided the front line to position, and it was largely due to his skill that the companies kept touch in forward movement. His work, carried out under fire, is very high spoken of by Company Officers. Military Medal awarded, 28th August, 1916.'
