Military Medal 'On 5th June 1918 at MORLANCOURT near ALBERT, this man was in charge of a Lewis Gun team out on patrol about 2 a.m. Suddenly the enemy opened a heavy barrage on our front line and he immediately occupied a shell hole with his Lewis Gun and crew. Next he noticed a party of about 50 of the enemy advancing over No Man's Land. He opened heavy fire on them at close range inflicting heavy casualties, and his initiative was responsible for disorganising the enemy attack and preventing it reaching our wire.'
