Meritorious Service Medal 'During operations near ZONNEBEKE in October 1917 this N.C.O. commanded daylight and night patrols, obtaining valuable information. His utter disregard for his personal safety and his devotion to duty during the execution of this most difficult task inspired the men under his command. At other times he has always done his work bravely and well.'
