Distinguished Conduct Medal 'When investigating for enemy mines in the Templeuve, Nomain, and Libercourt areas, between 7 and 8 November, 1918, he showed conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. In addition to removing a large number of contact mines, he was directly responsible for finding and personally taking out fourteen of the delay action type, although he knew the time for explosion in each case was overdue.'
