Military Medal 'At POZIERES on 8th August, 1916 he volunteered for extra duty of a most dangerous type, and went out to front trenches previously held by 19th Australian Infantry Battalion and then held by 48th Infantry Battalion and carried wounded through a heavy barrage fire. He was twice buried by shell explosions, but continued to carry on.'
