War service: Western Front Embarked Australia, 20 February 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 5 May 1916, and entrained for Hazebrouck; detrained at Hazebrouck, 8 May 1916. Atytached for duty with 704 Section, 254th Tunnelling Company, Royal Engineers, 13 May 1916. Found guilty, 3 August 1916, of (1) absent from Tattoo (2) drunk, 1 August 1916: awarded 7 days' Field Punbishment No 2, and fined 5/-. Found guilty, 16 November 1917, of being absent without leave from 12-13 November 1917 (2 days): awarded forfeiture of 5 days' pay; forfeited a total of 7 days' pay. Admitted to 13th Casualty Clearing Station, 21 October 1918 (septic right hand); transferred by Ambulance Train No 1, 22 October 1918, and admitted to 56th General Hospital, 24 October 1918; transferred to England same day, and admitted to Colchester Military Hospital, 24 October 1918. Discharged on furlough, 18 November 1918, to report to No 4 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 2 December 1918.
