Military Medal

'During the operations near BELLICOURT between 30th September and 2nd October 1918 this man displayed great bravery and devotion to duty in his capacity as a stretcher bearer. Although wounded early in the attack he refused to leave the line and continued for 36 hours attending to the wounded under heavy fire. Throughout this period he displayed an utter disregard for his personal safety and undoubtedly saved many lives.'
