'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This N.C.O. has rendered good service as Signalling Corporal, being constantly out under heavy enemy fire of all descriptions, repairing and maintaining communication lines. He has continually set a very fine example of courage in the face of danger, and devotion to duty at all times, and he has distinguished himself by his behaviour in action, during severe fighting,when he was wounded.'
