Military Medal 'Near BONY, on 29th September 1918, this Non Commissioned Officer organised a bombing party to clean up an enemy bombing party which had worked up ............LANE towards WILLOW TRENCH and had caused several casualties to an American Section. He led his men against the enemy with the greatest gallantry driving them back with sever casualties. he then established a block in the trench and so prevented further attack. His prompt action restored the situation at a critical moment and saved our men from severe loss. Throughout the operation, his qualities of leadership and initiative were of a very high standard.'
