'From the period of the 16th September to 11th November, 1918, he has consistently and most thoroughly attended to his duties, which have embraced practically the whole of the administrative work of the Unit. He has served as Company Clerk of the 3rd Australian Division Salvage Company since February 4th, 1917, and has at all times carried out his work in a highly efficient manner. His untiring energy and devotion to duty, especially during the operations on the ''SOMME' 1918 in the compilation of salvage reports etc., often under most trying circumstances, is well worthy of special recognition.'
