Military Medal 'These Battalion runners [1991 A. Robertson, 2529 E.A. Polkinghorne, 1331 J.B. Skelton, and Jones] were several times on the evening of 9th August 1918 during the advance towards RAINECOURT, east of AMIENS, sent with messages to the Companies. They had to travel through a heavy machine gun and artillery barrage and locate the Companies at a time when the position had not been clearly defined. They showed not the slightest hesitation and by their courage and reliability rendered valuable service to the Battalion.'
