Military Medal

'At Hooge on the night of 24th/25th September 1917 Driver G.B. Jones displayed conspicuous bravery and coolness. this Driver worked under heavy shell fire with a team of horses carting stores to a forward dump. Two shells bursting simultaneously killed the N.C.O. in charge of wagons, the two drivers and 4 horses of the wagon next to him; killed his own off horse and wounded the wheel driver of his team. He quietened the remaining three horses, helped his wounded comrade to dismount, and then went to see if he could assist the first team. Finally he got the three horses and haness of his own team safely away. His courage and devotion to duty deserves special recognition.'
