Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Although wounded early in the day he remained at duty and assisted to lay a telephone line, remaining at a relay post in a shell hole for nine and a half hours. Although a second time wounded he displayed great courage and disregard of danger in bringing back important messages from the infantry Commander.'
