Embarked Sydney, 22 August 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 13 October 1916.

Found guilty, No 3 Command Depot, 4 November 1916, of insolence to an NCO: awarded 24 hours' detention.

Proceeded overseas to France, 12 December 1916; marched in to 4th Australian Division Base Depot, Etaples, 13 December 1916.

Found guilty, 28 December 1916, of being absent without leave from 8.15 am parade, 27 December: forfeited 2 days' pay.

Joined 13th Bn, in the field, 2 January 1917.

Admitted to 1st Anzac MDS, 17 January 1917 (diarrhoea); rejoined Bn, 19 January 1917.

Wounded in action, 4 February 1917 (gun shot wound and diarrhoea); admitted to 4th Division Rest Station, and discharged to duty, 7 February 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 9 February 1917.

Reported Missing in Action, 11 April 1917; subsequently reported Prisoner of War, interned at Minden, Germany.

Repatriated from Germany; arrived England, 25 November 1918, and admitted to King George Hospital, Stamford Road, London (debility); discharged on furlough, 4 December 1918, to report to AIF Headquarters, London, 4 January 1919.

Extension of leave granted to 10 January 1919.

Granted leave with pay and subsistence [fees 7/6- per week], 13 January-12 March 1919 (Non-Military Employment: study, attending Halifax Tenchnical College.

Married Evelyn CORDER, St Martin's Church, Halifax, 11 March 1919.
