Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on the 11th August 1918 at LIHONS. Private W.N. JONES was a runner and during the enemy counter attack when bombs and ammunition were almost exhausted, succeeded in getting a message to the rear for supplies through a very severe barrage of shells and machine gun fire. It was solely due to this runner's courage and indefatigable devotion that supplies were brought up and so relieved a serious situation. He continued to carry despatches throughout the whole attack under numerous trying circumstances setting a splendid and cheering example to all.'
