War service: embarked for Gallipoli from Alexandria, 25 August 1915. Transferred to 6th Light Horse Regiment, and taken on strength, D Squadron, 2 October 1915. Admitted to 13th Casualty Clearing Station, Gallipoli (rheumatism), 6 November 1915; transferred to HS 'Delta', 20 November 1915; to 17th General Hospital, Alexandria, 26 November 1915; discharged to duty, 8 January 1916.

Marched into 12th Light Horse Regiment, Tel el Kebir, 26 April 1916. Admitted to Australian Stationary Hospital, El Arish (fractured foot), 25 May 1917; discharged to duty, 4 July 1917; rejoined unit, 8 July 1917. Admitted to hospital, 7 October 1918; transferred to rest camp, Damascus, 11 October 1918; rejoined unit, 19 October 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on board 'Euripides' from Suez, 14 March 1919; disembarked Sydney to arrive at Melbourne, 20 April 1919; discharged, 14 December 1919.
