War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney, 25 November 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 29 January 1917; marched into 4th Training Bn, Codford, 30 January 1917. Admitted to Codford Military Hospital, 14 February 1917 (mumps); marched into 4th Training Bn, 6 March 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 3 May 1917; marched into 4th Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 4 May 1917. Proceeded to unit, 13 May 1917, and taken on strength of 13th Bn, in the field, the same day. Wounded in action, 8 June 1917, but remained on duty. Admitted to No 13 Australian Field Ambulance, 3 August 1917 (pyrexia of unknown origin); transferred to 4th Division Rest Station, 3 August 1917; discharged, 14 August 1917; rejoined unit, 15 August 1917. On leave, 22 February 1918; rejoined unit, 9 March 1918.
