Military Medal 'Whilst under heavy machine gun and rifle fire on being deposited on the final objective by a Tank during the operations in the vicinity of HARBONNIERES, East of VILLERS-BRETONNEUX on 8th August 1918, this N.C.O. handled his guns with such coolness and skill as to enable them to get into action quickly and succeeded in inflicting very heavy casualties on the enemy. Throughout the operations he was conspicuous for his bravery and devotion to duty and set a splendid example to his comrades. He showed an utter disregard for his personal safety.'
