Found guilty at sea, 7 December 1917, of being absent without leave, 1.00 pm, 4 December, to 8.00 am, 6 December 1917: awarded 7 days' detention; forfeited total of 10 days' pay. Found guilty at sea, 17 December 1917, of (1) drunkenness, (2) creating a disturbance after lights out, (3) using obscene language, (4) insolence to a non-commissioned officer: awarded 21 days' detention. Disembarked Devonport, England, 27 December 1917, and marched into 13th Pioneer Training Battalion, Sutton Veny.

Found guilty, 29 January 1918, of being absent without leave, 7.00 am, 16 January, to 10.00 pm, 23 January 1918 when apprehended by civil police: awarded 8 days' Field Punishment No 2; forfeited total of 31 days' pay. Marched into Pioneer Training Battalion, Sutton Veny, 2 March 1918, from Detention Barracks. Found guilty, 13 March 1918, of being absent without leave, 6 February, to 23 February 1918 when apprehended by police: awarded 57 days' detention; forfeited total of 82 days' pay. Found guilty, 9 April 1918, of escaping from custody on 22 March 1918: awarded 60 days' detention; forfeited total of 63 days' pay. Marched into No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 22 April 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on 'Ghaika', 12 May 1918; disembarked Adelaide, 5 July 1918. Discharged as being undesirable, Adelaide, 8 July 1918.
