Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 12 April 1915.

Wounded in action, 28 April 1915 (gun shot wound, right side); transferred to HT 'Mashoba', 2 May 1915, and admitted to No 2 General Hospital, Cairo, 3 May 1915; transferred to Convalescent Depot, Helouan, 15 June 1915. Embarked to rejoin unit at Gallipoli, 4 July 1915; rejoined unit, 10 July 1915.

Promoted Corporal, 6 September 1915.

Admitted to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Heliopolis, 15 December 1915 (septic hand); transferred to Convalescent Hospital, Ras el Tin, 31 December 1915; discharged to duty, 10 January 1916.
