Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He worked throughout the engagement estahlishing and maintiining communication in the face of great difficulties and under heavy shell fire. When a dug out was blown in he succeeded in rescuing two severely wounded men. He showed the greatest initiative and courage thoughout.' (now Captain)'
