Military Medal 'South of STRAZEELE, on the afternoon of the 11th July, 1918, this man was a member of a small patrol which left our lines with the object of capturing an enemy post, such an operation, owing to the daylight, being attended with great danger. The patrol captured two of the garrison and killed three. Next morning he again went out with a similar patrol and took a leading part in the work which resulted in the capture of 28 of the enemy, 4 machine guns, and a penetration of a couple of hundred yards into a portion of the enemy's lines where good opportunity for concealment existed, a fact which rendered the work both difficult and dangerous. He showed great courage and dash and performed most valuable work in keeping his officer informed of what was happening on either flank, very often being compelled to pass through machine gun fire in order to carry out this duty.'
