War service: Egypt, Gallipoli Note on file: 'Died from a bullet wound in back of nexck on the 18.8.15. at 6.10 a.m. He had a serious lung wound but was going on fairly well, then his lungs became affectd and he died rather suddenly. He did not know he was dying as he became much worse suddenly, so he did not leave any message for his relations. He did not suffer as his wound was not painful but died from his lungs beconmig affected ... ' Died of enteric fever, 21st Australian General Hospital, Alexandria, 18 August 1915.
