War service: Egypt, Western Front Taken on strength, 5th Divisional Signal Company, Tel el Kebir, 10 March 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 16 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 23 June 1916. Promoted Captain, 6 January 1917. On leave to England, 20 April 1917; rejoined unit from leave, 4 May 1917. Transferred to England on duty as court martial witness, 25 July 1917; rejoined unit in France, 3 August 1917. Attached to Wireless School, 2nd Army Signalling School, 4 September 1917; rejoined unit from course, 23 September 1917.
