Military Medal

'On 9th October, 1917, in the morning he was at the BRICK KILN south of ZONNEBEKE and by his coolness, courage and resourcefulness was the means of keeping the wounded moving down the line steadily. He also went out under heavy 5.9" H.E. shelling on two occasions and brought in wounded who were lying out exposed. He dressed these men and undoubtedly saved their lives.'
