Military Cross

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in command of an outpost, which was attacked by a strong hostile force. He held the enemy in check and inflicted severe casualties at close range, compelling them to deploy in the hills in front of the post. He maintained his position until daylight, and by telephonic communication was able to give accurage information as to the enemy's strength and position. His coolness and tenacity were most commendable.'
