War service: England Embarked Sydney, 14 June 1917; admitted to ship's hospital, at sea, 20 August 1917 (meningitis) disembarked Liverpool, England, 26 August 1917, and admitted same day to 1st Australian General Hospital; transferred to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 12 October 1917; to Holborn Military Hospital, Mitcham, 10 November 1917; discharged on furlough, 22 November 1917, to report to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 24 November 1917. Marched into No 3 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 6 December 1917. Found guilty, 11 January 1918, of being absent from parade 1 hour, 9 January 1918: awarded 2 days' confined to camp. Marched out to No 4 Command Depot, 1 March 1918. Admitted to Isolation Hospital, Hurdcott, 6 March 1918 (scabies); discharged to No 4 Command Depot, 19 March 1918. Found to be underage.
