Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty under an intense bombardment by two hostile batteries. Although wounded, he assisted in dressing and evacuating the wounded to a place of safety, and in the absence of other officers, remained in control until ordered away. His fine and plucky example had a steadying effect on all ranks of the battery.'
