Distinguished Conduct Medal 'At Chuignes, on 23 August, 1918, during the advance when his platoon was held up, this man crawled round the flank of an enemy post, shot two of the crew, and silenced the machine gun. He then rushed the post and the garrison of twenty surrendered.'
