Meritorious Service Medal 'For good and courageous work. As Transport Sergeant this N.C.O. has been indefatigable in his efforts to keep the Transport up to a high state of efficiency. When the Battalion is in the line his management of the Transport has been excellent and Sergeant Kingston invariably takes it to the line himself often through heavy shelling and machine gun fire. This was especially noticeable in the August operations, when his work was marked by skill, coolness and great devotion to duty in spite of many obstacles. During the period from February 25th to September 16th/17th September Sergeant Kinston has done consistently good work and is deserving of the highest praise.'

He supervised the bringing forward of rations and ammunition that were required for the attack. This had to be done at night time, when the enemy was shelling and bombing all roads incessantly.'
