'On the 13th August, 1918, near BRAY-Sur-SOMME this man's company was heavily shelled and suffered many casualties. Private KIRK was the only stretcher bearer left unwounded. he continued to work under very heavy shell fire, frequently dressing wounded and moving them single handed to cover. Throughout the day he showed great coolness and set a most excellent example of courage and devotion to duty.'
