Wounded in action, 19 July 1916 (gun shot wound, wrist); admitted to No 2 Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to Ambulance Train, 20 July 1916, and admitted to No 1 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, 21 July 1916; discharged to 5th Australian Division Base Depot, Etaples, 12 August 1916; rejoined Bn, in the field, 20 October 1916.

Wounded in action (second occasion), 29 September 1918 (gun shot wound, left elbow and face), and admitted to 134th Field Ambulance and then transferred to 50th Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train, and admitted to 6th General hospital, Rouen, 30 September 1918; transferred to England, 4 October 1918, and admitted to 2nd Western General Hospital, Manchester, 4 October 1918; transferred to 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 25 October 1918; discharged on furlough, 1 November 1918, to report to No 4 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 15 November 1918.

Admitted to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, 19 November 1918; discharged to Convalescent Training Depot, Parkhouse, 5 January 1919; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 48 days.

Marched in to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 14 January 1919.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Ascanius', 9 February 1919; disembarked Adelaide, 21 March 1919; discharged, Adelaide, 20 May 1919.
