Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Single handed he captured an enemy machine gun which was holding up the advance, and captured or killed the whole of the team. When the final objective was captured he showed great judgment in placing his men so that heavy casualties were inflicted on the enemy.'
