Military Medal 'During the attack of the 31st Battalion from WARFUSEE-ABANCOURT on the 8th August 1918 and the following day this man did magnificent work as a Battalion runner. He showed an absolute disregard for his personal safety and worked unceasingly throughout on many occasions his work necessitated passing through heavy shell and Machine Gun fire, but he never once failed in carrying out the work in hand with the utmost promptitude. Throughout the operation his courage and devotion to duty were admirable and were a splendid example for his comrades to copy.'
