Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack on VILLE-SUR-ANCRE, near ALBERT, on the morning of 19th May, 1918. This N.C.O. took charge of his Platoon as soon as his Platoon Commander became a casualty, and led them forward under heavy fire on to the objective. He organised the Platoon for the consolidation and on detecting a weak spot in our line, he collected all the stragglers in the neighbourhood, formed them into a unit, and established a post. he displayed great skill and initiative throughout.'
