Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at MONT de MERRIS near STRAZEELE, France, on 14th April, 1918. During an enemy attack his Section was in an advanced post. The enemy attempted to place a machine gun within 60 yards of his post. Private LANG took up a position out of the trench and forced the enemy machine gunners to retreat by means of rifle fire. Throughout this period he was subjected to very heavy enfilade fire. He set a splendid example of gallantry and initiative to all ranks throughout the day.'
