Military Medal 'On the morning of 31st July 1917 when the 55th Battery, 14th Aust. F.A. Brigade were in action in their forward position firing a creeping barrage, they became subjected to a heavy bombardment from enemy 5.9" Howitzers No. 1304 Fitter W. LANGSTAFF, 55th Battery, seeing that Sergeant A.G. KYD was in difficulties with No. 6 gun, all the detachment of which were either killed or wounded, immediately went to his assistance and helped him maintain his piece in action. His initiative and gallantry were a magnificent example to all ranks.'
