'On 18th September, 1918, during operations east of HESBECOURT this N.C.O. showed skilful leadership, initiative and daring in action. During the attack three machine gun nests held up the advane and L/Cpl. LARSEN with the aid of a Lewis Gun accounted for the garrison, capturing 3 guns. Later on during the advance he observed a hostile machine gun team firing amonst his men. Working his way round the trench and crawling over the parapet he silenced the gun, killing 3 of the crew and capturing two prisoners. The work of this N.C.O. was of the highest order and inspired his men at all times.'
