Military Cross 'He displayed great gallantry and able leadership on 3rd, 4th and 5th October 1918, during the fighting in the Hindenburg line, north of St. Quentin, particularly during the assault on Montbrehain, as bearer captain. He maintained touch with R.A.P.'s in spite of heavy shell fire, and his genius for selecting routes and loading posts resulted in a very rapid evacuation of wounded.'
